Pioneers
Daubenbiss and Hames bought the Rancho Rodeo in 1847 and started
gristmills and a flourmill. The both planted farms and donated
land for Soquel's first schools. Daubenbiss, who stayed in Soquel
for the rest of his life as a town founder, also gave land for
the community cemetery.
